Jeff Young and Paul Pinto, Patriots, Run for Public Office on a Platform of Swift and Righteous Immigration Reform, Lots of Jobs, and a Healthy Environment:
an Opera by Paul Pinto and Jeffrey Young

"Haunting and humorous. Patriots begs to be witnessed live, with its inherently dramatic delivery, humorous moments, and text-driven narrative." -I Care If You Listen
Jeff Young and Paul Pinto, Patriots, Run for Public Office on a Platform of Swift and Righteous Immigration Reform, Lots of Jobs, and a Healthy Environment: an Opera by Paul Pinto and Jeffrey Young A half-hour political satire framed as a town hall debate featuring poetic grandstanding, singing, wild instrumental virtuosity, improvisation and questions from the audience, ...Patriots... has become an all-too-real reflection of today's bad behavior surrounding issues of immigration and national identity. Created and performed by Jeff Young (thingNY, World/Inferno Friendship Society, LUCERNE FESTIVAL ALUMNI) and Paul Pinto (thingNY, Thomas Paine in Violence, The Great Comet of 1812) …Patriots… delivers fast-talking pointed critiques of the political zeitgeist, a minimalist score of violin, percussion and electronics, tight vocal harmonies, and extended musical and textual improvisations amidst an array of cardboard boxes and the stars and stripes. First performed in 2011, ...Patriots... has toured the U.S. four times across 25 states and has been released as an album on Gold Bolus Recordings. |
